Hannah Herrity was a survivor of the famine and lived in the Workhouse for a time, she described it as “a terrible place”.
Her memoirs were written by another local lady Mrs Law and Wee Hannah’s tale is told in a moving story told on tape and brought to life by Ewan Berry’s hand made models of Hannah, the Mistress and Master of the Workhouse and the paupers of the time.
The Workhouse was renovated in 2011 to install a lift so that the upstairs exhibitions are now easily accessible.
Wee Hannah is buried in the old graveyard at Kill near her benefactor Mrs Law. Wee Hannah’s gravestone was Kindly cleaned by James Harkin in May 2014.
